Aleza Summit

Aleza Summit is the Outreach Director for the Purim to Passover Campaign at Films That Change the World, working to organize screenings of Trembling Before G-d, Trembling on the Road, Hineini: Coming Out in a Jewish High School, and Encounter Point. Aleza comes to Films That Change The World from the Global Coalition for HIV/AIDS. There, as a Program Officer, she supported the work of young people active on HIV/AIDS issues around the world by connecting them to resources, policy makers, and each other, as well as organizing conferences and running a small grants program. Previously, she worked as the Education Program Officer at the American Jewish World Service, developing educational materials about global issues, including HIV/AIDS, poverty, and women's empowerment, for synagogues, schools, and Jewish community settings. As well, she organized service-learning programs that brought North American college students to Central America to learn about the work of community organizations and inspire the U.S. students to work for global justice. Aleza has been active around queer issues since she was a member of her highschool's Gay/Straight Alliance.

Aleza graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in International Letters and Visual Studies. Since 2003, She has lived in Brooklyn. She is active with local groups on issues of affordable housing, sexual and reproductive health, anti-war organizing, and Israel/Palestine issues. Aleza is particularly interested in creating radical Jewish culture and community and in the juncture of art and social change.
